Message of Hope and Change

Change and hope are great things. However, how often do people act on them? If you know that your path in life has been redundant in your own eco-system and you can't figure out how you got there or you're not satisfied, that's a good indicator that you need to change the components in your life. You shouldn't be afraid of failing . Failing is learning. You can't improve yourself unless you go through a trial period. Whether its launching a business or a product, you've got to give it a shot. If you fear too much, you can't start something new and as a result, you will never know new experiences and possibilities. Awareness of change is critical since people don't realize how badly change needs to take place. Even with children, they are naturally changing. But sometimes, they are not fully aware of why things change even for the positive.

What Inspired Me
I grew up in a the city overseas (Hong Kong). When I was young I couldn't figure out Santa in department stores, Santa on T.V.,Santa at church, or even Santa in books? Who was this huge red and white fellow? I never figured it out until I was a teen. I asked my brother questions and he always had an answer even if he was completely wrong. I looked at the night sky on Christmas Eve to see if I could spot Santa with Rudolph. On top of it, I lived in a high rise so we didn't have fireplaces and chimneys...I didn't have that exposure or hadn't seen snow until I went to college in Massachusetts. My brother came up with a brilliant idea of taping our socks on the windows. Somehow, we always had presents under the Christmas tree even though it was a fake plastic one.

When I was in elementary school, my teacher said it was time to write Santa a letter. Each year, I wrote requesting a puppet...I never got what I wanted and I always received a toy tea set. I just figured that Santa was getting old or ran out of puppets.

Beatrix S. Taubunan is an excellent children's author and illustrator.

I just love the simplicity of her writing on paper, yet the plot is so intense, meaningful and carries such a strong message for children.

The illustrations are outstanding, colorful and mesh very well with the plot. I can just see myself right there in Gobble's world, so the children will too.

Children will love this story and feel Gobble's heart as he deliberately finds a way to remain alive and well. This time, the humans were outsmarted.

What a beautiful story for this time of year - Thanksgiving.

"Gobbles and His Turkey Trick" is definitely a page turner, and will keep small children entertained. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

Beatrix Tambunan has done it again! This time she introduces us to Gobbles. When he learns he might end up on a plate Gobbles gets very creative. As Always, this book is beautifully illustrated to better tell the story. If you love animals like I do or your children are big animal lovers this is definitely a book worth getting. I am becoming a bigger fan of Beatrix Tambunan's work with every book and this one is even more fun than the last. Just when you think you're in for a sweet, simple story the author hits you with a funny line soon after Gobbles is born that had me rolling. Gobbles is very clever and throws the reader for a tofu loop that brought a smile to my face. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

My New Book! Gobbles and His Turkey Trick

My new book, Gobbles and His Turkey Trick, is my newest children's book. I would like to say that I am not a vegetarian but I think turkeys are funny looking. My daughter gave me a lecture on how turkeys were not even served on Thanksgiving. Other foods originally served were duck, corn, and even clams. I find it fascinating that turkeys have such importance in our grocery's stores because of its popularity. It's funny because we wait for them to be fattened up so we can eat lean meat.

New Children's Book, "Jack The Pumpkin"

Happy October! I'm very happy to finish a small children's tale on "Jack O'Lantern". I never thought of doing a seasonal book but for some reason, I thought about changes and how positive changes can be. Moon Girl Helps Breast Cancer

This is a special edition in support of breast cancer research. My mother is a breast cancer survivor. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was only 8 years old and counts my blessings each day that my mother fought it and she is doing wonderfully today.


Due to my mother's illness, I fell into a high risk category for breast cancer candidates. I've had a mammogram since my 20s. I pay close attention to my health since I've become a mother too.

This disease is a serious disease. It affects thousands of women. Any funds that go to researching breast cancer helps deeper research to the prevention and a better cure. Please help support this cause.

A story inspired by the author's observation of her mother and aunt's relationship. The name of her book is a direct translation from "Wul Nyu" which is Korean for "Moon Girl".

A story of Moon Girl who made sure the moon shone brightly each night so night creatures could creep outside and see where they were going. There was another girl, her sister, Sun Girl. She made sure the sun shone brightly so all day creatures could stay away. So why did Moon Girl leave one day? What was she looking for? What did she discover? This is a story of self worth and valuable relationships. Discover the colorful journey with original illustrations. Moon Girl has the author's original colorful illustrations and chose the picture of Moon Girl journeying in her "moonmobile". Unlike her first book, "An Eagle Named Canary" which has felt pen drawings, The author's challenge making a decision on using watercolor pencils as her media. The book contains powerful messages of self worth and systematic relationships. This book is suitable for early learners and can be a learning tool for classroom discussions on social relationships and self image.

Remembering 911

11 years ago, I almost lost my mom and brother but luckily they were scheduled to go to the 10:00am flight on American Airlines to Los Angeles. I was 7 months pregnant and in the Boston office doing payroll. My co-worker said, "New York was hit!".  My former boss said we all had to evacuate the building.

Everyone in downtown was running and panicking. Cell phones were not working. The "T" wasn't running. Everything stalled except for the pubic uncertainty of what could happen next.

It wasn't easy for me to walk fast with a round tummy. I was worried about Boston and my husband and my future baby. I had thought about another attack. I was worried that if Boston was attacked, it would be all the schools. Floods of irrational thinking streamed through me.

I ran into my husband as I walked closer to home. I was relieved.

Looking back, I remembered the chaos but I also saw the nation become closer and more united. We became more cautious and found a purpose against terrorism. We needed to protect the present to strengthen the future.

I look at my daughter now who will soon be 11 years old. I count my blessings each day thank those who made it possible for all of us to live safer each passing day.

Autism- A Spectrum of Hope

During my visit to Los Angeles, I had the privilege of knowing the founder of A Spectrum of Hope Foundation. http://www.spectrumofhope.org This wonderful organization helps families who have an autistic child and are eager to learn how to apply learning capabilities. Their mission statement:

"Our mission is to foster hope to families with young children affected by autism spectrum disorder. We provide Advocacy Grants to qualifying families and offer early intervention information so treatment can begin as soon as possible. "


The foundation promotes Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), a science that studies environmental events that affects behavior in a child. What is amazing about this science is that  it works and  I have see the positive results from this application. This is a Californian foundation but it is well worth a visit to the website as a starting point to those who don't know where to begin. Many American families are affected by a child with autism and must have the learning tools to help themselves in order to help their child. This is truly a great knowledge based foundation. Pass this information on to those who may benefit from this.

Independence is Confidence

How do you know if you are independent? It's when you feel good about yourself and have no fear. You have the right to say that you are self-confident. It's when you are willing to take a chance and hope for the best. It's when you are open-minded and think of all the wonderful things that will happen in your life. It is when you finally understand "ignorance is bliss". So why do some people doubt themselves and their ability to do better in their life? What has stunted their process to grow further? People are so focused on social acceptance. But it really doesn't matter what people think as long as you think about your happiness first. When others see that you are happy, they will naturally gravitate to you. There are no societal norms. Society is made of  people, people are not perfect. If you know this, then what is stopping you to becoming more confident? More independent from what other people are doing or thinking?

My daughter got on the plane without my husband and me and was accompanied on the airline. She is only 10 years old and visiting her aunt in Texas. She said she was so excited and happy to be on a new adventure. She wasn't nervous. She was incredibly positive. She called me when she arrived. She was excited about her summer in space camp. I'm real proud of her. It really made me think about how brave she was to travel alone to go on a journey she chose for herself. She was growing up. 

People have to realize that we all must think of ourselves as children. We still have hope and we still can learn. We all can have new adventures. There is no age limit. Feel confident about yourself so you too can experience independence.
